Coaching is Different than Therapy
Coaching
Coaching focuses on performance enhancement. Coaching makes suggestions by observing the actions of the client. The coach works outside in. The coach assesses the situation and is there to give guidance and direction when needed. Coaching explores your life constructs of skill development, fulfillment, beliefs and values and living authentically. ADD Coaching Group focuses on the challenges of inattention, impulsivity and hyperactivity and how they affect the quality of ones life. Coaching takes place in the space between what is and what can be.
Coaching is more similar to mentoring. It creates a context in which you can create and implement a strategic plan for future goals based on a deeper understanding of your gifts and skills.
At The ADD Coaching Group, our primary focus remains on you strengths while we work with you to create a strategic plan based upon your wants, needs and desires to implement your desired life change.
Therapy
Therapy focuses on internal growth.
Within the context of the room, the client explores for themselves through questioning what brought them to therapy. Therapy works inside out. Although therapy also helps you develop your strengths, it tends to have a more dominant focus on symptom reduction and healing deep unconscious issues.
What if You Need to Explore Past Issues in More Depth?
When the past significantly interferes with your ability to move forward, your Coach may recommend a referral to a therapist. If you are already in therapy, Coaching can provide an exciting adjunctive service for you to target future focused goals while working through past issues.
